Mission Committee Update, February 19, 2021

Even though we are missing being able to meet in person, the Mission Committee is still communicating and supporting projects that help others on behalf of the United Church of Strafford.

This week, we are supporting the Strafford Village Farm’s Family Fund, which “offers discounted shares to local working families who might otherwise not sign up for a CSA share.” We are proud to support this local effort!

Our support also goes to Safeline this week. Safeline is a non-profit organization and is located in Chelsea, Vermont. The mission of Safeline is “to end physical, emotional and sexual violence against women and children through direct service, education, advocacy and social change.”  We are proud to be able to support this organization that provides a “24/7 toll free number that offers support, safety planning, information and referrals as well as in person support and legal, economic and medical advocacy.”

And, finally, we are happy to be donors to the Strafford Climate Action group, which had its birth at our church. Donations will help the group to sponsor events, speakers and to do projects and we are happy to support their important work.

We welcome ideas for other mission work. Please contact any one of us with your ideas. Thanks for your support!
